“Only 5000 Tickets Went On Sale”: Fans Accuse BookMyShow After IND vs PAK Tickets Sold Out

The last batch of tickets for the India vs Pakistan match in the World Cup 2023, slated for October 14 in Ahmedabad, went live on the BookMyShow app and website on September 3rd evening at 8 PM.

However, only a handful number of fans could book the tickets despite the Narendra Modi Stadium being able to hold over 100,000 spectators. One fan said that he had logged in from over a dozen different devices and accounts, and despite getting in the line at 8 PM sharp, he was denied tickets as within a minute the BookMyShow vendor showed that all tickets had been sold out for the marquee clash between the two arch-rivals.

Another fan who is an engineer ran an API systems test on the BookMyShow website and it revealed that only 5000 tickets – instead of the capacity of 120,000 of the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad – were actually released for sale by BookMyShow. These tweets from the fans went viralin quick time. Netizens smelled something really fishy and alleged that the BookMyShow company would later be selling tickets for high prices in black market.

Here are some of the reactions and tales of the fans who were unable to purchase tickets for the IND vs PAK World Cup 2023 match on the BookMyShow app and website.

After the fans were denied of a full IND vs PAK match by rain on September 2 in Pallekele, they are likely to get another chance to witness the rivalry in the Asia Cup, on September 10. Pakistan are through to the Super 4 round with 3 points – a win vs Nepal and 1 point vs India.

Now, India will face Nepal in a must-win encounter on Monday in Pallekele. The winner – which barring any miracle would be India – will join Pakistan and two other teams from Group B in the Super 4 round.

If India defeats Nepal, they will meet Pakistan on September 10. Although the venue for that match is slated to be Colombo, however, according to latest reports that could change to either Dambulla or Pallekele as Colombo is forecasted to receive heavy rain in the coming week.
