Only Hardik Pandya And Deepti Sharma Have This Rare Record

Two superstar Indian all-rounders, Hardik Pandya and Deepti Sharma, share a unique record that many fans may not know about. Interestingly, as it turns out, both of them have only recently made this record.

Only these two Indian cricketers have attained the distinct record of scoring more than 500 runs and taking over 50 wickets in T20 Internationals!

Pandya, who made his T20I debut in 2016, has featured in 66 shortest format games for India in which he has scored 806 runs and with the ball snapped up 50 wickets, and recently took his best of 4/33.

Deepti Sharma, the left-handed batter who bowls off-spin, has played 64 T20Is having also made her debut in the shortest format in 2016. The 24-year-old all-rounder from Uttar Pradesh has made 555 runs and snared 65 wickets in her T20I career so far.

Hardik and Deepti are the only two Indians who have achieved the double of 500 runs and 50 wickets in T20Is.

Overall, in men’s T20Is, there are 8 cricketers who have scored more T20I runs than Pandya among those who have also taken 50 wickets in the format. In WT20Is, there are 17 cricketers who have more runs than Deepti and have taken over 50 wickets.

Speaking first of Hardik Pandya, the 28-year-old has been in superb form both with bat and ball since making his return a few months ago in the IPL 2022. Recently, he registered his best bowling figures in both T20Is and ODIs, both he did against England last month.

Deepti is currently in England and has played a pivotal role in India reaching the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. In the tournament, Deepti has batted twice in the three matches India played in the group stage, in which she scored 34* vs Barbados Women, India won by 100 runs to seal their semi-final spot.

With the ball, she was brilliant against Australia women, returning with figures of 2/24 in her four overs, however, Australia won the match in a terrific run-chase.

After losing to Australia, Harmanpreet Kaur’s team comfortably thumped Pakistan and Barbados to confirm their semi-final berth. India will take on hosts England women in the semi-final on Saturday.
