Bangladesh’s cricket has improved by leaps and bounds in the last few years and while the performances of the Bangladesh players have grabbed a lot of headlines in the recent past, the behavior of some of their players has also been under the scanner.
Here are the 4 instances where Bangladesh cricketers did crazy things on the pitch –
#1 Mushfiqur’s Naagin dance
After finishing a thrilling game with a wonderful knock against Sri Lanka in the Nidahas Trophy 2018, the Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim started dancing like a cobra at the non-striker end.
While a celebration was expected from Mushfiqur after winning such a close game for Bangladesh, nobody expected such a weird celebration. Later Mushfiqur revealed that he copied that “naagin dance” celebration from one of his teammates in domestic cricket.
#2 Mustafizur coming in the way of the batsman:
In one of the games of the ODI series between India and Bangladesh in 2015, the young Bangladesh left arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was consistently getting in the way of the Indian batsmen while they were running between the wickets.
The Indian batsmen complained to the umpires a couple of times, but Mustafizur still kept coming in the way. At last, the Indian captain MS Dhoni decided to take the matter in his own hands.
The next time when Mustafizur came in Dhoni’s way, Dhoni bumped straight into him and Mustafizur went tumbling across the pitch because of Dhoni’s strength. Thankfully, the youngster didn’t get hurt.
#3 Mushfiqur’s premature celebration
In one of the games of the WT20 2016, Bangladesh needed 10 runs off 5 balls to win a group game against India and Mushfiqur hit two back to back boundaries off the bowling of Hardik Pandya to bring the equation down to 2 off 3.
After those two boundaries, Mushfiqur thought his team couldn’t lose the game from there and he started jumping and celebrating as if the game was already over.
But, as it turned out, Bangladesh lost 3 consecutive wickets on the next 3 balls and lost the game. Mushfiqur was heavily trolled after Bangladesh’s loss.
#4 Bangladesh U19 team’s celebration
After winning their first ever U19 World Cup trophy earlier this year, the Bangladesh U19 boys celebrated like crazy as they got onto the ground and started abusing the Indian players who were the other finalists of the tournament.
A couple of Bangladesh players even got physical with the Indian players. ICC didn’t take it kindly at all as all the players involved in the altercation were fined.
