Playing only his ninth ODI, Kuldeep Yadav was under a lot of pressure, having conceded 39 runs in his first 7 overs. But, he came back very strongly in his eighth over and proved to the fans why selectors and cricket pundits in India rate him very highly as a match-winner.
He dismissed Matthew Wade, Ashton Agar and Pat Cummins off successive deliveries in the 33rd over of the Australian innings. It was the over that changed the game for India.
With this hat-trick Kuldeep has joined Chetan Sharma ( vs NZ, Nagpur, 1987) and Kapil Dev (vs SL Kolkata, 1991) as the only three Indians to achieve the feat. This means that Kuldeep is the only Indian spinner to take a hat-trick in ODI cricket, as Kapil Dev and Chetan Sharma were fast bowlers during their playing days.
