Now when the T20 bilateral T20 series between India and New Zealand is done with, the ICC rankings for T20s have undergone a little transformation. Performances of this series reflect heavily in what the latest T20 rankings look like.
India defeated the Black Caps in the 3 Match series as Indian bowlers won the third game for their skipper at Trivandrum. But keeping aside the result of the series we got to agree to the fact that players from both, India and New Zealand has their moments of glory in the series.
Be it Munro’s explosive batting or Boult’s storm or Sodhi’s success, the Kiwis too had their run of glory in the series albeit losing the series. Talking about the Indian dugout, Skipper Kohli and Bumrah consolidated their top spots in the rankings. Kohli was the only batsman who seemed in good form in the series. Besides this owing to their knocks in the first game both, Rohit and Dhawan climbed places. While Rohit rose to the 21st spot in the rankings Dhawan moved up 3 places to be at number 45.
As for the Black Caps, Munro who is now only the 4th batsman to hit 2 T20 tons moved to the 12th spot. For bowlers, Ish Sodhi made it to the top 10 first time while Boult jumped to the 16 spot which is his career best. Tim Southee too gained and rose to the 81st spot.
Talking about Bowlers from the Indian dressing room, Bumrah retained the apex spot in T20 bowling rankings while his colleague moved up the 26th spot. The young Chahal went up 22 places to be at the 30th spot and Axar Patel too gained as he moved 17 places to be at the 62nd spot.
