“We are moving on.” This statement from MSK Prasad, the chairman of selectors at BCCI, added more fuel to the burning speculations on the future of MS Dhoni’s career. A lot has already been said about his retirement, so much that the fans can’t wait for the veteran to make a solid comeback in the team and watch him in action again.
But there is still no clarity over when will he return to action. The former skipper played his last international match against New Zealand in the semi-final of the World Cup. As soon as the world cup was over, he took a sabbatical from the game and kept on extending it.
Recently, MS Dhoni was seen training with Jharkhand’s under-23 team in Ranchi, which triggered a fresh round of speculations on his possible comeback in the team for the upcoming West Indies tour to India.
However, on Wednesday, at an event, MS Dhoni finally broke his silence regarding his comeback in the team. He sought to steer clear of queries on his ongoing break from cricket, which has fuelled intense speculation about his future in the game. Ending the speculations, MS Dhoni said:
“January tak mat poocho (don’t ask me till January),”
Earlier, the newly appointed President of BCCI, Sourav Ganguly had stated that Dhoni will get the respect that a player of his stature deserves and even ruled out all the speculations regarding the immediate retirement of the legendary cricketer. He said:
“You know champions don’t finish quickly.”
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni will feature in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, which is just a few months away. A source closed to him said that he will take a call on his future after next year’s Indian Premier League.
