After defeating South Africa in the first match of the series, Sri Lanka was leading with two win in their account. After loosing to Sri Lanka, everyone was expecting Proteas to win the third match of the series, however, they failed miserably this time as well and lost the match to Sri Lanka. South Africa lost the three -match Test series 3-0.
Faf Du Plessis’s army couldn’t give an impressive performance in this test series and the series turned out to be one-sided series.
On the other hand, Sri Lankan cricketers are giving their best of the performances in all the three formats of the game. They are giving the players of South Africa a run for their money.
It was a major win for the Sri Lankan team in the first match of the series as they won the match by 214 runs, beating South Africa brutally. In the second match, the South African team lost the battle with 15 runs. The third match was won by Sri Lanka by a huge margin of 199 runs.
Keshav Maharaj, the stunning bowler of Proteas has been giving some extra-ordinary performances with the ball. He shattered records with career’s best test records. He took 9-129 against Sri Lanka. He has been one of the major reasons to restrict the Sri Lankan team from scoring whopping numbers at the scoreboard.
In the third match, the openers of Sri Lankan team, Danushka Gunathilaka and Dimuth Karunaratne gave a stunning performance and a power packed performance, scoring 61 and 85 runs respectively. Angelo Mathews also gave an amazing performance and scored 71 runs smashing 7 fours.
Talking about the Proteas team, Theunis de Bruyn scored 101 runs but in 232 balls. It was a slow knock or rather a slow innings from the Proteas side.
However, the twitterati have been trolling AB de Villiers for the poor performance of South Africa in this series. Here, have a look at how twitter reacted :
Well done @OfficialSLC ? clinical performance once again. Congratulations to Suranga Lakamal for his maiden test series win. Proud of the way everyone contributed.

Just 2 defeats for Sri Lanka in their last 12 test matches and they have now whitewashed Australia, South Africa and Pakistan in recent test matches.

Another crushing defeat for the Proteas… 2-0 series loss. How they went into this match with one recognized spinner will forever remain one of this worlds mysteries… #SLvSA

This clearly shows the Rankings are just a number. We struggle on green tops and here they struggle on turning tracks. Its sad that all fuss comes when an asian team gets whitewash in green conditions though #SLvSA #cricket

Danny: "I'd love to be in Lakmal's shoes. Call the Toss, relax and wake up to declare and roll your arm for a couple of overs. At the end go and collect the Trophy! Just the dream Test for every Test playing cricketer "
A gem from comments I read! @ESPNcricinfo #SLvSA #cricket
