Cricket is a team sport where players have to work together in order to help their cause and win games. Cricketers sometimes resort to sledging in order to get a point across to the opposition, but there have been instances when teammates of the same team have fought or abused each other. Here are five famous instances:

MS Dhoni and Ashish Nehra:

In the international series against the West Indies in 2005/06, MS Dhoni was on the receiving end of a tirade from Ashish Nehra. The fast bowler managed to find the edge of the batsman with a delivery going away and the ball flew in the gap between keeper and first slip.

Dhoni was at fault for not going for the catch and Nehra was clearly unimpressed. He launched into an abusive rant and finished by telling Dhoni that such simple catches should be taken. In a few years, Nehra played under Dhoni’s captaincy for both the Indian and CSK teams.

Ambati Rayudu and Harbhajan Singh:

The two Mumbai Indians teammates had a bit of an argument on the field but quickly made up. Playing the RPS team, Harbhajan bowled a ball that was smashed to the extra cover region. Ambati Rayudu, running in from long-off put in the dive but he just couldn’t reach the ball that went for a boundary.

This angered the bowler who abused Rayudu in a fit of rage. Rayudu too did not hold back and started walking aggressively toward Harbhajan, questioning his unnecessary reaction. Harbhajan realised his mistake and immediately apologised and Rayudu backed off, albeit still unimpressed.

Mohammad Amir and Azhar Ali:

In the recently concluded Champions Trophy Final, one moment that might have gone unnoticed would be that of Amir abusing his teammate Azhar Ali for dropping a catch. Though it is not clear what was said, Amir was very angry because Ali had just dropped one of the best batsmen in the world – Virat Kohli.

Bowling a superb outswinging delivery, Amir found the edge of Kohli’s bat that flew to Ali at first slip who dropped a straightforward effort. Amir could not believe what had happened and just hurled abuses in the fielder’s direction. He however managed to pick a wicket off the very next ball to find closure.

Raina and Ravindra Jadeja:

The two teammates of the Indian team may be two of the best fielders in the world but have fought with one another during a match. It all started when Raina dropped an easy catch off Jadeja’s bowling against West Indies in a match back in 2013.

Jadeja was upset and is alleged to have told Raina that he had lost the captaincy chance to Kohli and now he was losing his interest in fielding too. This fired up Raina who went to confront the Baroda spinner. The two had a heated exchange before being separated and patching up later.

Shoaib Akthar and Yasir Hameed:

The fast Pakistani bowler is someone who does not shy away from speaking his mind and he let his teammate know during a clash against India. Playing a test match against their arch rivals, Akthar was walking back to the crease after bowling a delivery.

The fielder seemed to have said something from the distance that incensed Akthar who hurled the most colloquial of abuses toward him. The moment was caught on the stump mic and fans around the world would have been bemused to hear such filthy language.
