A good captain always gives a lot of value to his “gut”. Many great leaders have said that gut feeling plays a great role in making decisions. In the 4th ODI of 2006 bilateral series between India and Pakistan, Rahul Dravid made a genius plan with Suresh Raina to dismiss Pakistan’s wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal. After observing that Kamran Akmal likes to play in the air, Dravid positioned Suresh Raina at short point.
The very next delievery, Irfan Pathan bowled a back of a length delivery and Kamran Akmal smashed it straight into the hands of Suresh Raina, who was positioned there just a ball before by the then Indian captain Rahul Dravid. This brought a great joy for Rahul Dravid as he felt proud of his presence of mind and astute field positioning.
