India’s swashbuckling batsman Yuvraj Singh has achieved many great things in the game of cricket. But, when we talk about him, the first thing that comes to mind is ICC World T20 2007, in which he smashed 6 sixes in an over off Stuart Broad’s bowling.

Hitting 6 sixes in an over is the maximum a batsman can do and there are very few such occasions in competitive cricket history.

Last night, Worcestershire’s Ross Whiteley did the spectacular and smashed six sixes in an over. Whitley hit left-arm spinner Karl Carver over the boundary six times in the 16th over, which included a wide.

With this achievement, Ross Whiteley became the sixth man to hit achieve the feat in world cricket, after Sir Garry Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh and Lancashire’s Jordan Clark.

In the post-match interview, Whiteley said that hitting six sixes is something he never really thought he would do in professional cricket.

“I had the mentality that I was going to go for it before I got in. I hit the first out of the screws and needed to keep going for the team, not for that achievement. It’s something I never really thought I’d do in professional cricket.

“Personal milestone are great, but it’s hard to get away from the defeat. It’s pretty tough to take. We’ve lost four out of five and are right down at the bottom. Obviously we have to bounce back. There’s no reason why we can’t.”
