[PAK vs SA] VIDEO: Keshav Maharaj Roared Like A Lion After Defeating Pakistan

South Africa’s vice-captain Keshav Maharaj stole the show with his late heroics as he helped his team defeat Pakistan by 1 wicket in a thrilling clash on Friday. It was one of the closest contests in the ongoing World Cup 2023 as all eyes were on Keshav, who repaid the faith of his fans and smashed the winning runs for the Proteas. All thanks to this win, the Proteas side has moved to the top of the points table.

Keshav Maharaj Played A Brilliant Knock

Earlier, the Pakistan cricket team won the toss and opted to bat first against South Africa at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After suffering a hat-trick of defeats, Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team was desperate to bounce back and put their campaign back on track but they failed again against high-flying Proteas.

However, the captain’s decision to bat first didn’t go down well as the openers Abdullah Shafique (9 off 17) and Imam-ul-Haq (12 off 18)  both fell prey to Marco Jansen. Babar (50 off 65) continued to hold one end and scored his third half-century of the tournament but he once again failed to convert it into a big score. He was dismissed by Tabraiz Shamsi Saud Shakeel (52 off 52) and Shadab Khan (43 off 36) added 84 runs for the sixth wicket off 71 balls to help Pakistan cross the 220-run mark.

Pakistan side was bundled out for 270 in 46.4 overs. Later, in reply, South Africa didn’t get off to a great start as Quinton de Kock (24 off 14) and Temba Bavuma (28 off 27) were dismissed cheaply.

Aiden Markram held the innings together as he played a magnificent knock but after his dismissal in the 41st over South Africa was left reeling at 250/8 needing another 21 runs to win.

Keshav Maharaj (7* off 21) and Tabraiz Shamsi (4* off 6) guided their team home in 47.2 overs and won the game for their side.
