In what is turning out to be a memorable tournament where the number of upsets keeps increasing, Zimbabwe has just stunned Pakistan to increase the upset counts in the T20 World Cup 2022.

In their second Super 12 game, Pakistan, who lost to India three days ago, fell 1 run short of Zimbabwe’s total of 130 in Perth. This result now means that Pakistan don’t have their destiny in their own hands regarding the semi-final berth, and Zimbabwe, whose match with South Africa was washed out and now they have 3 points in 2 matches, can dream of qualifying for the semi-final.

This match was unusually hyped up on social media over the last couple of days because of “Mr Bean”!

A fake Mr. Bean incident had fired up social media war between Zimbabwe and Pakistani fans. The story goes that a Zimbabwean Twitter user, by the name of Ngugi Chasura, revealed that some time ago, a Pakistani man had duped Zimbabweans as Mr Bean and made plenty of money faking the famous Television character Mr. Bean.

“As Zimbabweans, we wont forgive you…you once gave us that Fraud Pak Bean instead of Mr Bean Rowan ..we will settle the matter tomorrow just pray the rains will save you,” this Twitter user tweeted.

This created quite a stir on social media in the last two days. And when eventually Pakistan lost to Zimbabwe in Perth, netizens went bonkers with the Mr Bean reference.

Among many, renowned actor/anchor/comedian Danish Sait came up with a hilarious tweet in reference to this Mr. Bean incident.

“When Zimbabwe ask for Mr. Bean, you give them Mr. Bean. This Pak Bean’s revenge has been taken. Congratulations! #PAKvsZIM,” Danish Sait tweeted.

On the fast and bouncy pitch in Perth, the Pakistani bowlers ran the show in the first half of the game, restricting Zimbabwe to 130. Little had anyone anticipated of what is to come: a spirited Zimbabwe bowling and fielding effort and a typical Pakistani collapse – who were 88/3 at one stage and looked comfortable for a win – made up a perfect recipe for an upset.
