The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially complained about the inappropriate behaviour directed at the Pakistan squad during the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match on October 14, 2023, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India. Amid rising tensions and a string of misfortunes, these occurrences have occurred during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken further action by filing a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the lack of clarity in the visa regulations for Pakistani fans and journalists attending the event and the reception they got in Ahmedabad stadium.
Despite the Pakistani cricket team’s high praise for the Indian hosts at the present ICC Cricket World Cup, they were met with everything but a friendly crowd in Ahmedabad for their third match of the tournament against their bitter rivals. On that tragic day, hundreds of Indian supporters were seen on camera booing the Pakistani players many times at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Pakistan Cricket Board Have Filed A Complaint Against India To The ICC

It’s not unusual for supporters to yell out jeering comments or slogans during matches between rivals but the degree of vitriol seen here was unprecedented. With the cricket pitch becoming a battleground for the decades-old political tensions between India and Pakistan, it was clear that the Indian fans were not exactly welcoming.
Babar Azam, captain of Pakistan, was in the middle of all the chaos. Azam made his first appearance in India and at the Narendra Modi Stadium. He was the man in charge of the Pakistan cricket squad, therefore all eyes were on him. Even before the ball was bowled, Azam was met with shouts and jeers. In spite of the backlash, Azam showed tremendous sportsmanship by keeping a cheerful demeanour and ignoring his critics.
When the renowned Pakistani player Muhammad Rizwan got out, the situation quickly deteriorated. He was met with “Jai Shree Ram” chants from the Indian crowd. These cries escalated an already tense situation, drew international attention to the incident, and drove a wedge between cricket supporters from the two countries.
Both the cricketing showdown and the hostile environment of India vs. Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be remembered for years to come.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged another formal protest with the ICC over delays in visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a visa policy for Pakistan fans for the ongoing World Cup 2023.
