Australia’s new captain Pat Cummins kickstarted his tenure as the captain in a blockbuster way as he claimed the prized wicket of dangerous England, all-rounder, Ben Stokes in the ongoing first Ashes Test in Brisbane. Pat Cummins, who recently replaced Tim Paine because of the s*xting scandal, is the first BOWLER to lead his country in a Test match in 63 years after Richie Benaud.
England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes returned to competitive cricket after a long break from July to focus on his mental health and to rest an injured finger. He had skipped the home series and the T20 World Cup, taking a break from the game citing mental health.
Stokes would have been looking forward to giving an impactful performance, however, his stay was cut short by the new Australian skipper Pat Cummins.
Pat Cummins toiled hard in the first session along with fellow pacers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood under overcast conditions. Cummins trapped Ben Stokes with a delivery from around the wicket, which he only managed to edge to Marnus Labuschagne in the slips for 5 off 21 balls as England slipper to 29/4.

Talking about the ongoing game, Joe Root’s side got off to the worst possible start in Brisbane on Wednesday after opener Rory Burns was dismissed by Mitchell Starc on the first ball of this Ashes series in Australia.
After a brief time, the visitors looked in a difficult situation as they fell to 29-4 with skipper Joe Root and talisman Ben Stokes nicking behind along with Dawid Malan. Though, Ollie Pope and Haseeb Hameed tried to bring back the momentum but it was a horrible opening Ashes session for the visitors.
