"Pick Bhuvneshwar Kumar For England Test Series": Fans React As Pacer Takes 7-For On Ranji Comeback

Bowling for Uttar Pradesh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a dream comeback to red-ball cricket after six years as he picked 7 of the first 8 wickets to fall of the Bengal side in their first innings of the encounter in Ranji Trophy 2024. This is a strong bowling performance that will work as an indication of his form and fitness to the selectors ahead of the England Test series.

After Uttar Pradesh were bowled out for only 60 runs in Kanpur, Bhuvneshwar Kumar put up a stunning bowling performance by blowing away the Bengal batting-order to keep UP alive in the game. At 35 overs, Bengal are 122/8, and 7 of those wickets have gone to Bhuvneshwar alone. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s figures at the time of writing read: 17-3-37-7.

Bhuvneshwar had last played a red-ball game in 2018, on the tour of South Africa. Because of his injury issues, the seamer hadn’t played a first-class game, not even in domestic cricket for six years.

While the India squad for the first two Tests in the upcoming Test series at home against England has been announced, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has put himself in a good position for the selectors to notice him, especially in the absence of senior pacer Mohammed Shami, who is currently injured.

Here’s how fans reaction to the 7-wicket haul by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in Ranji Trophy 2024:

Bhuvneshwar last featured in a first-class game before this one was in the Johannesburg Test in 2018. Despite his prolific swing movement abilities, his Test career has been hindered due to injuries. He has played only in 21 Test matches, picking up 63 wickets at an average of 26 with four five-wicket hauls to his name.
