IPL 2023: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star bowler Deepak Chahar has had his share of long-term injuries for the last few years. CSK bought the services of the star pacer for a whopping INR 14 crore in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction and was later retained by the four-time IPL champs ahead of the 2023 auctions.
However, because of a stress fracture, he was out of cricketing action and was ruled out of the IPL last year. He also missed a significant portion of international cricket, including the T20 World Cup.
CSK’s Star Bowler Has Failed To Fire Up In IPL 2023

He made a return to cricketing action after a long gap of eight months. But in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League, he has failed to leave an impact with his performances so far. His performance is nowhere close to the price he got.
In two games that CSK has played so far in IPL 2023, Deepak has failed to take wickets. In fact, he hasn’t even got a chance to bat in the ongoing season. Instead of contributing to the side with his bowling or batting, he has been wasting opportunities.

No wicket for 84 runs in 8 overs
Deepak Chahar has featured in both the games CSK has played so far in the ongoing season. In these two games, he has bowled 8 overs, while giving away 84 runs. His economy has been above 10 and he has failed to pick any wickets. Known for being economical in his bowling and for giving big breakouts to his side. However, he has failed miserably so far in the ongoing season.
Deepak Chahar Hopes to Play This Entire Season and Year Injury-Free
Meanwhile, speaking on the latest video shared by CSK, Deepak expressed his frustration with injuries as he hoped to have an injury-free year. He said:
“I know how to deal with injuries, but this time it was longer. For a fast bowler, coming back from an injury is a difficult task. Hopefully, I don’t get it again and I play this entire season and year injury free.”
“I have been lucky to be part of a good team and good environment. If you have an environment, where everyone is supporting each other, and if you are always talking about winning the tournament, that’s where you reach the finals and win the finals.”
