The skipper of the current Indian team, Virat Kohli does not need any introduction at the moment. He is one of the best batsmen in the world across all formats of the game. The right-handed cricketer led the Indian team to the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2008. He became the second captain to win the Under-19 Cricket World Cup for the Indian team.
After his tremendous performance at the U19 levels, he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League. Manpreet Gony
The right-arm fast bowler from Punjab, Manpreet Gony was included in the Indian squad in place of injured Sreesanth. He was impressed everyone with his performance in the inaugural edition of the IPL as he managed to pick 17 wickets from 16 games. He could play just 2 ODIs and could pick 2 wickets at an economy of less than 6.
Manpreet Gony could play big shots for his team in the death overs. But it was not enough for him to cement his place in the national team. Soon he was thrown away from the Indian team.
But, he continued to play for Deccan Chargers, Kings XI Punjab and Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League. In 2019, he was picked by Toronto Nationals in the 2019 Global T20 Canada tournament.
Subramaniam Badrinath
The Indian cricket team has produced a lot of talented batsmen in the history of cricket and the cricketer from Tamil Nadu, Subramaniam Badrinath is one among them. He had an amazing batting skill. After his tremendous batting performance in the domestic circuit, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2008.
Even though he was not a hitter, he could play match-winning knocks for his franchise in IPL. He was included in the Indian team in 2008 but the right-handed batsman could not use his opportunity as he scored just 79 runs from 7 ODI games at a poor average of 15.8.
The Tamil Nadu cricketer had failed to find a spot in the squad for the 2011 World Cup. After the end of the World Cup, he was included again in the squad for the ODI and T20I series against West Indies. It was his last international series for his country. After hanging the boots from the cricket, the stylish cricketer is currently doing a commentary stint in Star Sports Tamil.
Pragyan Ojha
We all know that the Indian cricket team is known for producing quality spinners. They produced the likes of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh who have destroyed the opponents throughout their career with their fingers. The Indian team introduced the left-arm orthodox bowler to the world in the form of Pragyan Ojah. The left-arm spinner made his international debut in ODIs in 2008.
But, he was not effective in the limited-overs format as he could scalp 21 wickets from 18 ODIs. Soon after, he has cemented his place in the longest format of the game. But, the injuries hurt his Test career as well. Pragyan Ojha’s last Test game was Sachin Tendulkar’s last international game in cricket.
Since then, Ojha never appeared in any format of the game in international cricket. Ojha had picked 113 wickets from 24 Tests and 10 wickets from T20 Internationals. But, he continued to play in the Indian Premier League for the next two years. On 21 February 2020, he has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
Manoj Tiwary
The right-handed batsman, Manoj Tiwary is arguably one of the most talented batsmen in the history of Indian cricket. He has all the shots in his pocket. After his brilliant outings in the domestic cricket, he was included in the Indian team. He made his international debut for his country against Australia in 2010. Even though he was in good form in the domestic circuit, he could play his next ODI series only after three years.
He scored a century against West Indies but it was not enough for him to cement his place in the Indian team. However, he made a comeback again into the Indian team but this team as an all-rounder. With his leg-spin, he took 4 wickets against Sri Lanka. He played his last international game in 2015 against Zimbabwe.
Since then, he has been playing for Bengal in domestic cricket. In 2017, he was bought by Rising Pune Supergiant before representing Kings XI Punjab in 2018. He could not find any buyer in the IPL Auction 2019. In January 2020, he scored his maiden triple-century in the first-class cricket. However, his international is almost over.
Yusuf Pathan
The right-handed cricketer from Baroda, Yusuf Pathan, who made his international debut in 2007, was considered as an aggressive batsman for the Indian team. He was a key player for his country and used to finish the games as well for the Indian team. As he was an aggressive cricketer, he used to get opportunities in the limited-overs format.
In his T20I debut, he opened the innings for his team in the finals of the 2007 T20 World Cup against Pakistan. He has dropped from the team again before being picked for the 2009 T20 World Cup. His aggressive batting skill in the middle-overs helped him to find a spot in the squad for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. But, his form did not help him to stay in the Indian team as he played his last game for his country was in 2012.
The right-hander had scored 810 runs from 57 ODIs and 236 runs from 22 T20Is at an average of 27 and 18 respectively. But, he continued to play in the IPL. He was a key member for the KKR franchise however, they have released him ahead of IPL 2018 due to his poor form.
Sunrisers Hyderabad picked him in the IPL Auction 2018 and retained him for IPL 2019 before releasing ahead of the IPL 2020. As he has no age on his side, it is impossible for Yusuf to make an international comeback.
