IND vs. PAK

IND vs PAK: Arch-rivals India and Pakistan will square off once again in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in the Super 4 round. After the washed-out game against Pakistan, India thumped Nepal by 10 wickets in Pallekele on Monday to join Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan in the Super 4 round.

While the Super 4 stage kick-started on Wednesday with Pakistan meeting Bangladesh in Lahore, India’s first match in this round is on September 10, against arch-rivals Pakistan in Colombo.

There have been huge concerns regarding the weather in Colombo in the coming couple of weeks.

Earlier, there were talks among the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) members about shifting the Super 4 round matches from Colombo to Hambantota, however, the ACC has confirmed that the tournament will move forward as scheduled. This means that there is a threat of multiple matches getting interrupted, truncated, and even washed out, including the India-Pakistan encounter on September 10.

Positive news about weather comes in for IND vs PAK match on September 10

Amid the concerns among the fans, the Sri Lanka Meteorological Department has provided some positive news about the weather this week that will keep the fans optimistic.

Athula Karunanayake, the Sri Lanka Meteorological Department Director General, said that heavy rains are expected till September 9th, after which there should be significant improvement in the weather.

Speaking to PTI, Karunanayake said: “During this time of the year, which is the end of the southwest monsoon period, the southwestern part of Sri Lanka receives more rainfall.

“In the last two weeks, we witnessed more rain in the western province. The western province could receive a bit of rain, but after September 9, it would be sunny and cloudy but with very little rain.”

Fans are keeping their fingers crossed and praying for the weather to remain clear on September 10, after the India-Pakistan match on September 2 was washed out following India’s innings.

Colombo is also slated to host the final on September 17.

Karunanayake added: “In the coming week, the western province could get a few showers but by September 17, the day the Asia Cup final will be played, rains are expected to subside.”
