The first test might have concluded in a humiliating defeat for India but India had its little moments of glory in the match. Despite the loss which would have irked Virat Kohli badly, there were still some positives to pick form the match.
India may seam the underdogs now on the entire tour but these positives would give India a good boost.
From Hardik Pandya’s bravery with the bat to the lethal display of pace from the pacers, India has some positives to pick from the first game. These positives shall help India move on from the loss. Now what has happened has happened and India must learn from its mistakes for the only way to go from here is forward.
Here are the positives to pick from the first test for India
Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya yet again proved why he’s so important for India. He contributed both with the bat and ball. He played a brave knock of 93 in the first innings and then picked up two wickets as well in the third. His performance is a great positive to pick for team India.
Jasprit Bumrah
His selection in playing XI ahead of Ishant was apprehended. But he proved everyone wrong as he went on to have a dream debut. He could only manage one wicket in the first innings but he bowled sharply in the second innings and picked 3. He got AB De Villiers in both the innings and the way he has stared his hunting in the longest format gives a great boost to India’s chances in the series.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar
He was the star with the bowl in the first innings. He reduced the Proteas to 12/3 in the first innings and was right on top of them. The way he’s been swinging a ball is just amazing and the South Africans would now be wary of him. He’s done to them what Philander did to us despite not having the greatest pace.
Perfect Pace Attack
With all three pacers getting at least three wickets each and looking in great rhythm, the pace attack looks lethal. This is a perfect line up and perhaps India’s greatest pace attack in years. These are good signs for team India and the bowlers had literally unleashed a havoc on the South African batsmen.
