The Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first against the Chennai Super Kings at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. While CSK decided to stick with the same playing XI from their previous match, the Delhi Capitals made a change by bringing Prithvi Shaw back into their side.
Prithvi Shaw Finally Makes A Comeback In Delhi Capitals’ Playing XI
DC’s head coach, Ricky Ponting, had hinted at the possibility of bringing Prithvi Shaw back into their starting lineup. Ponting mentioned that the absence of Anrich Nortje influenced their decision, preventing them from including Shaw and leading to the selection of four overseas batters in the playing eleven.
“Yeah, Shaw’s pushing for it. He has worked hard in the last couple of weeks. Our team make-up in the first game without obviously (Anrich) Nortje being in allowed us to play four overseas batsmen,” said Ponting ahead of their clash vs CSK.
Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw has made a brilliant comeback with the bat and is looking forward to scoring big on his return. At the time of writing this article, Shaw had already scored 32 runs off 20 balls.

Few seasons back #PrithviShaw was India’s hottest young batsman. A plethora of exciting youngsters have made a mark since, reducing Shaw to an also-ran. A big knock tonight would be a reminder to the selectors that he’s still around

The five-time champions have stuck with the same lineup as their previous game against the Gujarat Titans. However, they face a significant challenge playing away from home. Statistics reveal that in the previous 12 games of the 2024 season, the visiting team has only won once. This occurred when the Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Nevertheless, CSK boasts a wide range of bowling options and, combined with MS Dhoni’s strategic expertise, they may be well-positioned to secure another victory and extend their winning streak to three matches.
Rishabh Pant’s team aims to assert their authority throughout the game after narrowly missing out on what appeared to be a sure victory in their previous match against the Rajasthan Royals. However, they will have to rely on their impact substitutes as Kuldeep Yadav has not been included in their playing 11 or on the bench.
