India’s young and talented opener batter Prithvi Shaw is all set to make his County Cricket stint after the completion of the ongoing season of the Duleep Trophy.

Yes, you read that right. Prithvi is currently playing in the Duleep Trophy 2023 for the West Zone Squad. His team will now take on the Central Zone in the first semi-final of the competition, which is scheduled to be played from July 5th to 8th at the KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur.

Meanwhile, according to a Times Of India journalist, Prithvi Shaw will be soon playing for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. He will be representing the Northamptonshire side in county cricket after the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2023 comes to an end.

“Prithvi will be playing in four-day County Championship matches and in the Royal London One-Day Cup (50 overs tournament). Before that, he will play in the Duleep Trophy semi-final (against Central Zone), and if necessary, in the final (July 12-16),” the TOI journalist quoted a reliable source.

Notably, Prithvi Shaw, who has played 5 Tests, 6 ODIs, and 1 T20I for India National Cricket Team, hasn’t played for the Indian cricket team for a long time now. He is currently not in India’s scheme of things in Tests and ODIs. The last time he played for the Indian cricket team was in 2021 during India’s tour to Sri Lanka.

The 23-year-old cricketer has been going through a lean phase in his career. He was even seen struggling to score runs with the bat, playing for Delhi Capitals in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. He was even dropped from the team after his back-to-back poor performances.

In IPL 2023, Shaw played 8 matches and scored 106 runs at an average of 13.25 and a strike rate of 124.71. After a poor IPL season, it is unlikely that Shaw will make it to the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies.
