After getting ignored by the Indian selectors for the West Indies and the upcoming Asian Games, Prithvi Shaw decided to embark on a longer route to make his return to the Indian cricket team. Shaw headed to London to join Northamptonshire and play for the Royal London One-Day Cup. However, his debut didn’t go as planned as he was dismissed in a bizarre fashion.

Prithvi Shaw Kicked His Own Stumps In Bizarre Dismissal

Shaw made his debut for Northants during the Group B game between Gloucestershire and Northamptonshire in England Domestic One-Day Cup 2023. But the out-of-favor Indian batter failed to get going and went down on a bouncer which resulted in his wicket.

The wicket took place on the last ball of the 16th over when Shaw failed to handle Paul van Meekeren’s bouncer. Shaw went for a pull shot but he failed miserably to maintain balance and kicked the stumps while going down on the ground.

The video of the wicket has been going viral on the internet. Watch it here:

It has to be noted that Prithvi Shaw last played for the Indian cricket team back in 2021. He was included in the squad for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka but didn’t get a chance in the playing XI. Shaw had a woeful time in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League campaign for Delhi Capitals and was dropped midway through the tournament.

Meanwhile, ahead of his county stint, Prithvi Shaw said that it is not the right time for him to make changes in the game. He said:

“I don’t think it will be the right time to make any adjustments to my game now,” Shaw stated. “Whatever adjustments I had to make to my game, has already been done. Once I go there and get my eyes set, I just need to play my natural game,”
