India and Delhi Capitals batsman Prithvi Shaw created history in just his third match of the One-Day Cup in England by recording the highest score ever in the history of this particular tournament when he smashed a double century on Wednesday.
Earlier, Prithvi Shaw had decided to challenge himself in the English conditions and signed with Northamptonshire for the One-Day Cup which is his maiden stint in the English county circuit.
In his first two matches for Northamptonshire in the One-Day Cup, Prithvi Shaw managed scores of 34 and 26.
On Wednesday then, against Somerset, in Northampton in a Group B game, Shaw brought out his blazing array of strokes to dazzle the onlookers on his way to a stunning double century. He reached his century in 81 deliveries, and, getting even more aggressive, notched up his double hundred in 129
Shaw broke Ollie Robinson’s 206* runs record of the highest score in the Onde-Day Cup.

Shaw went past Saif Zaib’s record of 136 runs for the highest score by a Northants batter in the One-Day Cup.
This is also Prithvi Shaw’s highest List-A score and his second double century in List-A cricket. Only Rohit Sharma has three double centuries in List-A cricket. He’s only the second Indian after Rohit to multiple double hundreds in List-A cricket; Ali Brown and Travis Head also have two each.
This was his 9th List-A ton and his first in the format in over two years. In his 56 matches List-A career, Shaw has ransacked over 2900 runs with 9 centuries and 11 fifties, including two double tons.

Further, Prithvi Shaw broke former India skipper Sourav Ganguly’s record of 183 runs for India vs Sri Lanka in 1999 for the highest List-A score by an Indian batsman in England.
