Recently, the Citizenship Amendment Bill has passed the lower and upper houses of the parliament. This bill provides Indian citizenship to non-Muslims who left Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan and entered India before 2015.

As per this bill, lakhs of immigrants from religious minorities including Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians – will get Indian citizenship. On December 4, the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill got clearance from the Lok Sabha. The bill passed the test in Rajya Sabha on December 11. The bill will now go to the President for his assent.

Soon after the news of the bill being passed came out, social media was flooded with their reactions to the passing of Bill.
