Senior spinner R Ashwin has extended his support to the Indian cricket team to go all the way in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 on home soil.

On Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced its 15-member squad for the World Cup. Rohit Sharma and Ajit addressed a press conference and revealed India’s squad for the upcoming marquee tournament.

The squad was more or less on the expected lines as India has tried its best to come up with a balanced squad, with only R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Tilak Varma missing out from the squad.

Meanwhile, soon after the squad was announced, Ashwin took to Twitter to wish the boys luck. He also urged everyone to support the Men in Blue. He wrote:

“Go well boys! Home World Cup is always special and let’s ( all of us ) back them to bring it home. #ICCWorldCup2023,”

It has to be noted that the last time India won the ODI World Cup 2023 was 12 years ago in 2011 when the World Cup took place in India. MS Dhoni and company lifted the elusive trophy after 28 years by beating Sri Lanka in the final at the Wankhede Stadium in 2011.

Interestingly, in the last three ICC ODI World Cups, the home teams were seen clinching the trophy. The Men in Blue will hope to keep the trend going.

India will play their opening game against Australia on October 8. The much-awaited India vs. Pakistan clash will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
