R Ashwin Reacts To Ben Stokes Making A U-Turn From ODI Retirement For World Cup 2023

England’s star all-rounder, Ben Stokes making a comeback from ODI retirement to play in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, has become one of the major talking points of the cricketing world off-lately. Stokes, who retired from ODIs last year citing workload management, played an instrumental role in England’s first ODI World Cup win, including a match-winning knock in the final against New Zealand, in 2019.

With speculations growing regarding his ODI return, England confirmed that Stokes will take part in the marquee tournament in India. Hours after being named in England’s preliminary 15-man World Cup squad, Stokes took to Twitter and reacted to his return to ODI cricket. He wrote: “LOL”

Meanwhile, reacting to Stokes’ return to the ODI team from retirement, India’s star spinner R Ashwin took to his social media and praised England’s captain Jos Buttler for convincing Stokes for convincing the star all-rounder to participate in the marquee event. He also claimed that there was no way that the all-rounder was going to miss the event of the year. He wrote:

So, Jos Butler’s dialogue with Ben Stokes worked like magic. 😂🤩🤩

For the unversed, earlier, R Ashwin via his YouTube channel had claimed that England limited-overs captain Jos Buttler is not very outspoken but he will try his best to convince Stokes to come out of ODI retirement for the ODI World Cup 2023. Ashwin had suggested that Buttler has to play a key role in convincing Stokes to come out of the ODI retirement for the upcoming multi-nation tournament. He had said:

They will try their best to convince Ben Stokes to come out of retirement and play the ODI World Cup and it seems that responsibility has been given to Jos Buttler. It seems Buttler’s duty is to watch Ben Stokes, according to coach Matthew Mott. So Buttler is keeping an eye on Ben Stokes. Now it’s Buttler’s job to make Stokes available for the World Cup. And Buttler is not a man of many words. He hardly speaks. So my guess is that he will go to Ben Stokes and say, ‘Dude please join us. It will be really nice if you come out of retirement.’ Buttler won’t be outspoken. He will try his best,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
