In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, one name has consistently shone bright – Rachin Ravindra. Emerging as a standout performer for New Zealand, Ravindra’s class with the bat has garnered attention, placing him as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, surpassed only by India’s cricket maestro, Virat Kohli.
Rachin Ravindra’s Name Is Not A Mix Of Sachin And Dravid

Contrary to popular belief, Rachin Ravindra’s nomenclature is not a deliberate fusion of cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, as some reports have suggested. Ravindra’s father, Ravi Krishnamurthy, dispelled these notions, revealing the interesting story behind his son’s name.
“When Rachin was born, my wife suggested the name, and we didn’t spend a lot of time discussing it,” Krishnamurthy shared with The Print.
He added: “The name sounded good, was easy to spell, and short, so we decided to go with it. It was only some years later that we realized the name was a mix of Rahul and Sachin’s names. He wasn’t named with the intention to make our child a cricketer or anything of the sort.”
Rachin Ravindra’s batting brilliance has been a cornerstone of New Zealand’s success in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. His elegant stroke play, coupled with a robust technique, has made him a formidable force on the pitch. In the group stage matches, Ravindra consistently delivered stellar performances, securing crucial runs for his team.
He has scored three centuries, showcasing his ability to handle pressure in high-stakes encounters. The cricketing fraternity lauded Ravindra’s innings as a proof of his skill and composure on the international stage.
As the tournament progresses, the cricketing world eagerly awaits the clash between New Zealand and India in the semi-final at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The stakes are high, and all eyes will be on Rachin Ravindra as he faces the formidable Indian bowling attack.
