Current chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja is likely to be sacked as the board’s chairman. The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) has sent a summary to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s office with regards to changing Ramiz Raja as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

As per a report by Geo News, former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi is likely to replace Ramiz Raja as the charge of the country’s cricket affairs once again. Sethi also met Prime Minister Shehbaz on Saturday in Lahore, where he received the green signal for the role of PCB’s chairman.

Ramiz Raja Is The 36th Chairman Of The PCB

Notably, former Pakistan captain and 1992 World Cup winner, Ramiz Raja was elected unanimously and unopposed as the PCB’s 36th Chairman for a 3-year term last year in September. Previously, Ramiz Raja served the PCB as its Chief Executive from 2003-2004, has represented Pakistan on the ICC Chief Executives’ Committee and presently sits on the MCC World Cricket Committee. He has also been a successful broadcaster with the world’s leading cricket networks and was hailed as the voice of Pakistan cricket.

“PCB’s constitution of 2014 should be restored. After its restoration, departmental sports will be revived,” said sources, quoting the premier.

Ramiz Raja Will Be Replaced By Najam Sethi

Ramiz Raja replaced Sethi, who stepped down as PCB Chairman in 2018 when Imran Khan was sworn in as the prime minister. He was appointed for a three-year term in 2017, but due to his sour relationship with Imran Khan, he stepped down from the position. Sethi also worked as the PCB chairman in 2013 and 2014, Geo News reported.

As per the report, the restoration of PCB’s 2014 constitution is also likely to be approved by the Pakistan Prime Minister, which will result in the return of departmental cricket in the country.
