After Dhawan’s disastrous run out India looked in trouble. But then Rahane stood there with Kohli to see India being very close to the finishing line. He batted superbly on his way to 79. He also clobbered two beautiful sixes and his partnership with Kohli was the turning point of the match.

Pandya went wicketless in his 7 overs and conceded 42 runs. His batting services weren’t much required and he stayed not out on 3. But he took a spectacular catch to see Aiden Markram walk back to the hut.

Dhoni’s involvement in the game remained very limited. There wasn’t much to do with the gloves and with the bat too. He remained unbeaten on 4 after hitting the winning boundary.

The star bowler couldn’t impress much in the first ODI. He picked just one wicket that too off a full toss. He conceded 71 runs off his 10 overs and was the most expensive among bowlers.
