Ravi Ashwin Told The Biggest Difference Between Kohli And Rahane: The Indian cricket team scripted history in Australia by winning the four-match Test series to win the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 2-1. Team India faced a number of obstacles during the series including the absence of their main players and captain Virat Kohli.
The Indian skipper Virat Kohli returned back to India after 1st Test match to be there with his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma during the birth of their first child. In his absence, Ajinkya Rahane donned the hat of the skipper and led team India to victory.
However, ever since team India won the series, several cricketers and fans have been comparing the captaincy of Virat and Rahane.
Recently, while speaking to The Times Of India, R Ashwin reckoned that both Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane lead the team in a similar fashion however, he also claimed that the thing that differentiates between the two is that Virat is more expressive and communicative. On the other hand, Rahane is more calm and composed. Ashwin said:
“I am totally blown away by the kind of comparisons people like to make when it comes to captaincy. I feel this Indian team has had some wonderful results in the past because of quality players and human beings in the dressing room. Virat is more expressive, communicative, and in your face, while Rahane doesn’t do these three things. But the way they captain the side is pretty much similar,”
After Virat Kohli returned back to India after the first test match, there were speculations that Ravi Ashwin will be seen donning the hat of the vice-captain. However, the team management decided to hand over the responsibility of the vice-captain to Cheteshwar Pujara in the second test while Rohit Sharma was the vice-captain in the last two test matches.
During the interview, when Ashwin was asked if he was disappointed after he was overlooked for captaincy, Ashwin said:
“I am not at all disappointed. I go out there and make my own plans and get my fields that I want. The captains and vice-captains that I have played with have been very supportive of whatever I have wanted.
Leadership is also about leading yourself and keeping your space upbeat for any situation that arises. If you can help another teammate that’s also leadership.”
