India’s ace bowler Mohammed Shami was in his top form as he completed a five-wicket haul on Day 3 of the ongoing Boxing Day Test match against South Africa in Centurion. All thanks to his sensational effort with the ball, South Africa got bundled out on 197 runs in their first innings.

En route to his five-wicket haul, Mohammed Shami also went on to complete his 200 wickets in the longest format of the game. Shami reached the milestone in his 55th Test match, which makes him the third-fastest Indian paceman to the landmark. He joined Kapil Dev (50 Tests) and Javagal Srinath (54 Tests) in the elite list of Indian pacers to have reached this milestone.

Shami became only the 5th India pacer to take 200 or more wickets in the longest format of the game. He put one of his finest spells of fast-bowling to trouble the South African batters with his trademark upright seam position. He led the pace attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, who was taken off-field after he suffered an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, the sensational bowler has been receiving praises from the cricket fraternity. From cricketers, experts to fans, everyone came up with special tweets hailing the brilliance of Shami. Among many, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri hailed Mohammed Shami with a special tweet for him.

In his Tweet, Ravi Shastri hailed Mohammed Shami as ‘Sultan of Bengal’ and expressed how he enjoyed his performance. He wrote:

“Shabash Sultan of Bengal @MdShami11. Dekh ke maza aah gaya. Biryani. Doh din ke baad. Mehnat ka Phal. God bless. #SAvIND #Shami #Shami200″
