Even with the absence of two of the top players — MS Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan in the team, the Indian cricket team defeating the Australians in the just-concluded series has reinstated our faith and shut the mouth of the critics.

Now no one can actually point fingers and say that the Indian cricket team has thrashed a depleted-looking Australian team as the top players like Steve Smith and David Warner made their presence felt in the game. And the same fact was stated by the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri.

After the match, Ravi Shastri was all-praises for the Indian cricket team, who made a powerful comeback in the team after a brutal defeat by the Australians in Mumbai. Lauding the team, Ravi Shastri stressed on the fact that despite all the factors against them, the Indian cricket team still emerged out victorious by defeating their strongest contenders. Ravi Shastri said:

“Now nobody can say we played an inferior Australia side. This team, the boys showed great character. Nobody can say we played an inferior Australia side. They got a thrashing in Mumbai, and then to win two games, with all the travel, and with Australia winning all three tosses.”

After successfully defeating Sri Lanka and Australia in two back-to-back series, the Indian cricket team is now gearing up to lock horns with the New Zealand cricket team. Recently, Virat Kohli sent out a warning to the New Zeland cricket team, ahead of the series. He said:

“We are taking a lot of confidence from our performance (in NZ) last year. We were very positive in how we played, very sure of what we wanted to do. The thing about playing away is if you’re able to put the home team under pressure, you can enjoy your cricket”

He added:

“You have to win at home, there’s that sort of feeling (for hosts). So if you bring out your A game, you can really put them (New Zealand) under pressure. That’s what we did last year, squeezed them in the middle overs, picked up wickets, spinners were outstanding. Looking forward to take that same intensity into the series.”
