Ravi Shastri Sends A Stern Message For Struggling Rohit Sharma

Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has shared an important piece of advice for the Mumbai Indians (MI) captain, who has been going through a lean patch in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Rohit Sharma Is Struggling Badly

Rohit is the most successful captain in the history of the cash-rich league, having led his team to five title wins. Despite being one of the most destructive batters in the shortest format of the game, Rohit has been struggling to score runs in the last two editions of the IPL.

Rohit Sharma capped off his worst IPL season last year as he failed miserably with the bat and didn’t score a single half-century in the IPL 2022. In the ongoing season as well, Rohit has failed to fire his Paltan. He has only smashed a single half-century so far in the IPL 2023. He has only amassed 191 runs off 11 games in the ongoing season with a below-par average of 17.36.

Ravi Shastri Advice For Struggling Rohit Sharma

Meanwhile, Shastri opened up about Rohit’s dreadful run in the ongoing season. Shastri feels that Rohit’s shot selection is not the greatest. Speaking to Star Sports, he said:

“I think give yourself a little bit more time. His shot selection is not the greatest. He mentioned he has a different role to play. But give yourself that little bit more time, his great strength is his ability to play cricketing shots and he has more time than a lot of players in the world when it comes to playing the quicks,”

He added:

“Back your strength, don’t try and be too cute too early. You have got all the shots in the book, you can make up later on. Just a little bit more time in the first 6 balls or so. Play more cricketing shots rather than trying to improvise early on,”

Rohit Sharma registered his second consecutive duck in Mumbai’s match against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Last night, in a game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rohit had another forgetful outing as he was dismissed for just 7 runs off 8 balls.
