Ravindra Jadeja Gives An Update On His Comeback Date

India’s premier all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, is likely to mark his international comeback in the upcoming home series against West Indies after missing out on the entire South Africa tour.

Ravindra Jadeja had suffered a right forearm injury during the 1st Test match versus New Zealand in Kanpur. After undergoing scans, he was diagnosed with a swelling on his forearm ruling him out from the second Test against the Kiwis in Mumbai.

Later, the left-handed all-rounder was ruled out from the entire tour of South Africa, where the Indian team missed his high-quality all-round services as they lost the Test series 2-1 and were whitewashed 3-0 in the ODI series.

Jadeja was India’s first-choice spinning all-rounder on the tour of England last year, playing in all four matches, while Ravichandran Ashwin was benched then.

Now, it has been learned that the southpaw is close to attaining full fitness, having worked hard at the NCA, where opener Rohit Sharma was trained to recover from his hamstring injury.

India will host West Indies for 3 ODIs and as many T20Is. The ODI matches will be played on February 6, 9, and 11  while the T20Is on 16, 18, 20, the squad for which is set to be announced in the next 24-48 hours.

“Jadeja is very close to being absolutely fit. He is definitely in contention to play in the home season when West Indies and Sri Lanka come to India,” a source in the know of developments told Times Of India.

As per the BCCI policy, every player has to compulsorily appear for the fitness test at the NCA before getting the ‘Fit to Play’ certificate. Only after receiving this, the selection committee is informed about the player’s availability.

Further, it has also been reported by Cricbuzz that Ashwin will miss the West Indies series. But India will get a boost in the form of Rohit Sharma, who has recovered fully and is ready to lead in white-ball matches. It would be his first series as the full-time ODI skipper.
