Ravindra Jadeja Has Scored Runs At SR Over 100 In Just 1 Of The Last 11 ODIs – Performances from most of the players in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 have done a huge favor to India’s confidence in most of the players that have been selected in the World Cup 2023 squad.

However, apart from Suryakumar Yadav‘s ODI form, India have a concern, and quite a big one: Ravindra Jadeja’s form with the bat.

Three weeks out from the start of the World Cup 2023, the Indian team management has been thrown a curveball as Ravindra Jadeja has struggled with the bat in ODI cricket. That he bats at the crucial position of number 7, which is required for finishing and to often hit out in the attack mode from the start of his innings, has made the fans worried.

On the other hand, Axar Patel’s impressive batting form in 2023 might force the management to think about whether Jadeja is a certain starter in India’s World Cup XI.

Jadeja has been bowling well, but he’s batting has been a major letdown in white-ball cricket in recent times.

A recent stat revealed that despite being a finisher, Ravindra Jadeja has batted at a strike rate of over 100 only once in his last 11 ODI innings. This is really concerning for the management. In the finisher’s role, while a high average cannot be expected, a good strike rate is a must. And the lone innings out of his last 11 with strike of over 100 was 8* runs in 7 balls.

Ravindra Jadeja in ODIs since 2022:

29 (44), SR 65.90
7* (15), SR 46.66
45* (69), SR 65.21
16 (39), SR 41.02
18 (33), SR 54.54
16* (21), SR 76.19
10 (21), SR 47.61
8* (7), SR 114.28
14 (22), SR 63.63
4 (19), SR 21.05
7 (12), SR 58.33

His latest knock – 7 off 12 – against Bangladesh was a major letdown for the fans. With Shubman Gill batting very well at the other end in a tricky run-chase, Jadeja opted to go for a big slog and was bowled by Mustafizur Rahman. Instead, he should have looked to not lose his wicket by playing such a risky shot and take the game deep.

India’s tail is already amongst the worst in the world, with India effectively having three number 11s in Kuldeep, Siraj, and Bumrah. With Jadeja, the number 7 batter, having such a terrible form, it could hurt India in a big game in the World Cup.
