Senior India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has landed himself in the firing line of not just cricket fans but also politicians across the country after his recent involvement in his wife Rivaba Jadeja’s political career.
A couple of days ago, Ravindra Jadeja took part in a roadshow in Jamnagar ahead of the state Assembly elections to champion the name of his wife and her political party, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). Rivaba joined the BJP in 2019 and recently got a ticket to contest in the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections, 2022, from the Jamnagar (North) constituency.
Ravindra Jadeja is currently out of cricketing action as he is recovering from knee surgery.
However, what many fans blasted him for, instead of spending time at the NCA in Bangalore to rehab, Jadeja was busy spending time boosting up his wife’s initiation into politics.
On Friday, Ravindra Jadeja stood in an open jeep waving his hands and acknowledging the crowd of Jamnagar, his home city, while hundreds of BJP supporters rallied beside him on bikes, cars, and footsteps.
Also, earlier, Rivaba Jadeja was criticized for using her husband’s image wearing the Indian cricket team jersey on her campaign posters.
Renowned “Political Analyst & Consultant” Tehseen Poonawalla raised this issue on Twitter on Saturday while tagging BCCI, with whom Ravindra Jadeja has a central contract.
“Dear @BCCI, Is the picture of a BCCI contracted player wearing the BCCI OFFICIAL JERSY allowed for campaigning ? Is @BCCI a political organization?,” Poonawalla tweeted, adding, “Kindly clarify or we will seek legal recourse!”

Such a brazen and open campaigning of the India all-rounder, who is an active cricketer and centrally contracted with the BCCI, also hasn’t sat well with fans on social media who blasted the southpaw.
Ravindra Jadeja set to miss Bangladesh ODIs; likely to miss Tests too
Jadeja has been out of action due to a knee injury since the Asia Cup. He underwent surgery, and later missed the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Now it has been learned that he will not recover in time for the 3 ODIs in Bangladesh and is likely to miss the 2-Test series – which is part of the WTC – too. Bengal all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed is named as Jadeja’s replacement for the ODI series. For the Tests, should Jadeja not be fit, Uttar Pradesh left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar could be added to the squad.
