Riding on the stunning performances of Harshal Patel and AB de Villiers, RCB won the season opener, defeating the defending champions Mumbai Indians by 2 wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. RCB players gave a stunning performance and stole the show in the last ball thriller.

Glenn Maxwell, who came under the scanner of critics after his poor form in the last season where he played for Punjab Kings. He could only score 108 runs from 13 games he played. However, the cricketer made a stunning debut for RCB in the season opener.

Maxwell walked-out to bat at number 4 position and took the game by storm as he smashed some stunning shots. Playing a stunning knock, Maxwell smashed 39 runs off 28 balls, smashing 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Meanwhile, following Maxwell’s masterclass, a hilarious banter took place on the micro-blogging site between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings. On seeing Glenn Maxwell smashing bowlers, RCB’s twitter page took a hilarious dig at Punjab Kings and thanked them for releasing Glenn Maxwell last season and what happened next has left everyone in splits. Royal Challengers Bangalore wrote:

“First Maxi-mum in Red and Gold and he nearly hits it out of Chennai! Thank you @PunjabKingsIPL. We would hug you if not for social distancing.”

Responding to this, Punjab Kings took a dig at RCB for releasing players like KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mandeep Singh, Sarfaraz and Mayank Agarwal, who will be plying their trade for Punjab Kings now. Trolling RCB, PKBS wrote:

“Aww and thank you for Gayle, KL, Mandy, Sarfaraz, Mayank…”

Well, the funny banter didn’t stop here. RCB soon gave it back with a hilarious tweet, this team teasing Punjab Kings for the similarities in its helmet, logo, and the rest of the IPL 2021 with some earlier RCB jersies. RCB wrote:

“You missed jersey, helmet, pads…and logo? But between us, who’s keeping count?”

However, after noticing this tweet, PKBS thanked RCB for reinventing the jersey and also congratulated RCB for their win. PKBS wrote:

And congrats on the win
