RCB vs KKR: “Statpadding Innings” – Virat Kohli Got Trolled For His 83 (59)

Even though Virat Kohli top-scored for RCB against KKR, and scored 45 per cent of the eventual team runs, the former RCB captain has been getting trolled and criticised on social media for his “stat-padding” knock on what some of his fans claimed to be a “slow” pitch.

This reaction from fans against Kohli came after KKR went off to a flier through a stunning opening partnership of 86 (39) between Sunil Narine and Phil Salt, in which Narine blasted 47 (22), and the pair effectively sealed the game for KKR.

Kohli started off brilliantly against the likes of Mitchell Starc and Varun Chakravarthy. However, he slowed down later on, and then couldn’t really get the boundaries in the death overs. At the end of the 15th over, Virat Kohli was 62(43), and fans believed he could get to 90 and more with five overs remaining.

However, Kohli managed to score only 21 runs in his next 16 balls. It was good for RCB that Dinesh Karthik smacked 20 (8) with the help of 3 sixes that took them to 182. However, the fact that Karthik, aged 38, came in and smashed 3 sixes on the go while Kohli struggled was concerning.

With KKR getting a solid start and nearing a victory, once again it was Virat Kohli who came in the firing line of the fans for his “slow” and “stat padding” knock.
