Records that Virat Kohli can break in IPL 2020

Virat Kohli and records are synonymous to each other. Kohli has hardly gone through a season in the recent past where he has not broken a lot of records and he is likely to do so in IPL 2020 as well. The Indian captain is on the brink of so many new records.
RCB might not have been able to win a trophy yet, but Kohli’s individual performance as a batsman has been top class in almost every single season of the IPL. Here are the records Kohli is expected to create in the upcoming season of IPL –
#1 Might become the first batsman to score 6000 runs in the IPL

Kohli is currently the highest scorer of all time in the IPL as he has scored 5412 runs in 177 games at an average of 37.84 and a strike rate of 131.61. If he finds the form early in the tournament this year, he might become the first batsman in IPL history to cross the tally of 6000 runs.
Kohli is currently 588 runs away from the tally of 6000 and it’s a number which he can easily achieve in a season if he is batting well. He has scored more than 900 runs in a single IPL season in the past.
#2 Might become the batsman with most IPL centuries

Kohli has, so far, scored a total of 5 hundreds in the IPL and he sits at no. 2 in the list of the century makers. Only his former RCB teammate Chris Gayle has gone past the three figure mark more times than Kohli.
Gayle has scored 6 hundreds so far and Kohli will have the opportunity to go past Gayle in IPL 2020 if he manages to score a couple of more hundreds.
#3 Might become the batsman with most 50+ scores

Kohli has crossed the score of 50 a total of 41 times in the IPL and has converted 5 of them into hundreds, while 36 have been centuries. Currently, the record of having the most number of 50+ scores is held by the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner who has gone past the score of 50 a total of 48 times out of which 4 have been hundreds and 44 have been half-centuries.
If Warner has a slight dip in form in the next IPL and Kohli hits the ball as fluently as ever, it’s very much possible Kohli registers this particular record to his name as well by the time IPL 2020 finishes.
#4 Might become the batsman with most IPL fours

Kohli is currently at no. 4 in terms of hitting the most number of fours in the IPL. He has, so far, hit 480 fours in 177 games. Shikhar Dhawan is leading the chart with 524 fours, while Suresh Raina and Gautam Gambhir are at no. 2 and no. 3 with 493 and 492 fours respectively.
Kohli might not be able to break Dhawan’s record as he is a bit too far away at the moment, but he can certainly leave Raina and Gambhir behind if he has a good IPL this year.
