Kerala and Rajasthan Royals star Sanju Samson remains determined to work on his fitness and strength even as he remains ignored by the national selectors at the moment.
Initially, he was named as a traveling reserve and flew to Sri Lanka with the Asia Cup 2023 squad, but Sanju Samson was then told to return to India as India didn’t need his services once KL Rahul joined the squad in Colombo. Sanju Samson then had a trip to Dubai to relax after a busy cricketing schedule and he’s now back in the gym to strengthen his body and increase stamina.
On Wednesday, he took to his Instagram story to share with the fans his training regime in the gym. Samson’s workout schedule included split squats, lateral lunges, head calf raises, and glute exercises.
Sanju Samson set to be excluded for Australia ODIs

Sanju Samson was not picked in the 17-man squad for the Asia Cup 2023 and also was not selected in the World Cup 2023 squad. Thus, it won’t come as a surprise if he’s excluded from the squad to face Australia in a 3-ODI series right before the World Cup, unless there’s an injury to either of the two keepers – Rahul or Kishan – or to any other batsman.
“See, KL is fully fit and there won’t be three wicket-keepers. That is the unfortunate reason why Sanju has to miss out. He has been captaining a side and understands the tough calls the selection committee needs to take. He will feature in the T20 series against Australia,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport on Wednesday.
Samson’s next aim would be to make into India’s T20I squad for the T20 WC 2024 next year in the West Indies. India will kick-start the preparation for that with the T20I series against Australia after the World Cup 2023 in November.
