“Play Rinku Singh Instead Of Sanju Samson At No. 5 or No. 6”

Indian cricketer Sanju Samson has found himself at the receiving end of criticism and trolling because of his poor form and inconsistent performances in the last few months. He has been struggling to score runs and has often been guilty of throwing away his wicket after getting great starts. The same has emerged as a concern for the Indian cricket team.

Sanju Samson Is Getting Criticised For His Poor Performances

With India missing the services of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant, the keeper-batter, recently, got the opportunity to play for team India in the limited-overs series, however, he failed to leave a mark with his performance and wasted the opportunity.

Averaging 30.00, Samson scored 60 runs in 2 innings during the three-match ODI series between India and the West Indies. He also failed to leave a mark with his performance in the T20I series, where he scored just 32 runs in the five-match series against the West Indies.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Abhishek Nayar shared his thoughts on Samson and said that the team mismanaged the wicketkeeper-batter by sending him to the lower-middle order. Speaking on JioCinema, Nayar said:

“I believe if you want to utilize Sanju Samson more, bat him at No. 3 because that is his number. He is used to that and he is successful there, or else don’t play him,”

Former Indian Cricketer Backed Rinku Singh

According to Nayar, if Team India needs a batter in the lower middle order, they can play Rinku Singh instead. Extending his support to Rinku Singh, Nayar said:

“If you are going to play him at No. 5 or No. 6, play Rinku Singh instead. If you play Samson in the top three, you will get more out of him because he plays shots in the powerplay and then plays the spinners. So I believe not the right place but he will get opportunities,”
