After his performances in IPL 2023, calls for Rinku’s inclusion in Team India grew loud. And now Rinku Singh has finally earned his maiden call-up for the Indian cricket team.
On Friday, the BCCI announced men’s and women’s squads for the 19th Asian Games which are all set to take place between September 23 and October 8 in Hangzhou, China. The team, which will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, consists of many young cricketers who made the cut into the 15-member team and one of the exciting names in the list is rising star Singh.
Rinku Singh Revealed MS Dhoni’s Golden Advice During IPL
After receiving his maiden call-up, Singh revealed the golden advice he received from the legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni during his meeting with him after the game between CSK and KKR.
Over the past few years, young cricketers are often seen taking a leaf out of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s book after their matches against the Chennai Super Kings, and Rinku was no exception. Rinku had also received a special gift from Dhoni in the form of a signed jersey.
Speaking about his interaction with the former India captain, Rinku revealed a worldly piece of advice that Dhoni gave him. He revealed:
“The chatter with Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) was really productive. He has also batted in similar numbers as I do – at 5 or 6 – and he has done it for the majority of his career, and knows the position in and out. I simply asked him how to better my game, and his advice was very simple: “Bohot sahi batting kar raha hai, jo tu kar raha hai, wahi karta reh (You are batting really well. Continue whatever you have done so far),”
