Rinku Singh did the unbelievable. Rinku did the unmistakable. Rinku Singh did the INCREDIBLE to script one of the most famous victories in IPL history.
He was batting on 3*(6) when from the non-striker’s end he saw KKR lose Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Shardul Thakur to a terrific Rashid Khan hat-trick that all but put the game in Gujarat Titans’ (GT) pocket. After all, at 155/7 in 16.3 overs, with 50 runs needed in 21 balls and no proper batter to partner him, not many would have given Rinku a chance to pull off a heist.
Even as he brought it down to 28 needed off the last 5 balls, he knew that if Yash Dayal doesn’t give any wide or no-balls, he has to at least smash 4 sixes. There’s a world of difference between knowing exactly what to do and actually doing it.
What did Rinku Singh do?
Rinku smashed 6,6,6,6, and 6 to Dayal to seal perhaps the most unbelievable IPL run-chase of all time.
Dayal has only himself to blame as well: the first three sixes were off full tosses and the next two balls were half-length deliveries bowled with more hope than a plan that Rinku misses it. But, in his form and confidence, and his story, it almost felt inevitable that destiny wanted Rinku to have his moment. And what a moment. Simply INSANE.
UNBELIEVABLE is the word, if you’re still searching for it with your jaws hanging.

Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana played a significant role in the run-chase – the pair staged a stunning partnership of 100 (55) – before Rinku-mania took over the Narendra Modi stadium.
In the post-match presser, Rinku Singh said: “I had the belief that I can do this. Rana bhai said to keep belief and to bat till the end, then we will see what happens. (On the single) I was just trying to hit sixes. (Umesh) Bhaiya was asking me not to think much and just play the ball. I was not thinking a lot, was just reacting to the ball. It kept coming out of the middle, I had belief and it came off in the end.”
Keep the belief, Rinku.
