Rishabh Pant Answered His Critics With A Mature Statement After The First ODI Against West Indies

Rishabh Pant is one of the most exciting young talents in world cricket. In his short career so far, Pant has shown glimpses of extraordinary talent and impressed one and all with his ability to hit the cricket ball a long way. However, he hasn’t been very consistent in the shorter formats of the game and this is the biggest reasons cited by his critics.

Rishabh Pant has been under the scanner from the past few months and a big section of Indian cricket fans are demanding his ouster from the team and Sanju Samson’s inclusion. In the recently concluded T20I series against West Indies, Rishabh Pant failed to make the impact that fans expect from him and he got trolled on social media every time he struggled with the bat and behind the stumps.

But, in the first ODI of the ongoing series against West Indies, Pant, once again, showed glimpses of his talent and skills by batting maturely with Shreyas Iyer after an early top-order collapse. He scored 71 runs off 69 balls and steadied India’s innings with Iyer, who scored 70 off 88 balls.

It was a much-needed good knock for Pant as it sent a strong message to Indian cricket fans and his critics that he is working hard and fighting for his place in the playing XI. After the match, Rishabh Pant said that he just wants to improve and every innings in India’s colors is important innings for him.

“Personally, if I play for India, every innings is important for me. As a youngster, I just want to learn and improve,” Pant said after the match as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Many say and believe that pant’s natural game is aggressive and he likes to play his extravagant shots irrespective of the situation, but Pant differs from this view. The dashing left-hander said that there is nothing called a natural game and he wants to play as per the demands of the team.

There’s nothing called a natural game and we need to play as per the demands of the team. Good players are those who play as per the demands of the team and situations,” Rishabh Pant said.

When asked about the criticism and expectations, Pant said that people will say good and bad things but he only wants to focus on his game.

“As an individual and a player I just want to focus on the process. People will say good and bad things but I just want to focus on my game. The team management has asked me to just calm myself down and improve myself in every factor,” Rishabh Pant concluded.
