Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is one of the brightest young talents in the Indian cricket set up. At the age of 23-year-old, Rishabh has already achieved a lot while representing Team India. On Tuesday, he added another feather to his cap as he broke the long-standing record of legendary Indian skipper MS Dhoni.

On Day 5 of the fourth and final match against Australia at the Gabba, Pant started the match with 976 runs and he scored 23 runs in the first innings of the match and became the fastest Indian wicketkeeper to reach 1000 test runs which is an amazing sign for his future.

So far, Pant has only played 15 tests but he has already proved his mettle by giving some match-winning performances for India. It only took Pant 26 innings to achieve the feat at an average of 40.04, while MS Dhoni had reached 1000 Test runs in 32 innings.  The other wicketkeepers from India to achieve the 1000 test runs landmark were  Farokh Engineer (36 innings), Wriddhiman Saha (37 innings), Nayan Mongia (39 innings), Syed Kirmani (45 innings), and Kiran More (50 innings).

Meanwhile, talking about the ongoing match, team India went into Tea on Day 5 of the Gabba Test with the score of 269/5 on the scoreboard and India require another 59 runs in 70 balls to win. With 5 wickets already down, all hopes are now on Rishabh Pant, if he stays a bit longer, India could still push for a win or a draw. Earlier, Shubman Gill played a gutsy knock of 91 runs off 146 balls.

With the series level at 1-1, team India only needs to draw the match in Brisbane to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
