India’s young and talented wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant reached a new milestone on Tuesday as he joined legendary keeper, MS Dhoni, in an elite list during the ongoing second Test match against South Africa in Johannesburg. Rishabh Pant added another feather to his hat as he became the fourth Indian keeper to take 100 catches as a wicketkeeper in the longest format of the game.

Rishabh took the catch of Lungi Ngidi off Shardul Thakur’s delivery to achieve this big feat. Before Pant, only MS Dhoni (256), Syed Kirmani (160), and Kiran More (110) have achieved this feat in the longest format of the game.

Earlier during the first Test match in Centurion, Rishabh Pant had become the fastest wicketkeeper to pick 100 dismissals in Test cricket, surpassing the record of MS Dhoni in the list. While MS Dhoni had taken 36 games to reach this milestone, Rishabh achieved the same in the 26th Test match.

Meanwhile, as Pant surpassed MS Dhoni, on the other hand, Indian bowler Shardul Thakur stole the show with his stellar spell as he picked 7 wickets for 61 on Day 2 of the ongoing Johannesburg Test as he registered the best figures by an Indian bowler against the Proteas. He surpassed the record of Ravi Ashwin in the list of best bowling figures for India. He surpassed the record of Ravi Ashwin in the list of best bowling figures for India against the Proteas.

Talking about the game, resuming the day on 35 runs, South Africa were bowled out for 229 runs on Day 2. However, the Proteas managed to take a 27-run first-innings lead over India. At stumps, India was at 85 for 2 with KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal back in the dugout. India is now leading the Proteas by 58 runs.
