The ace Indian opener, Rohit Sharma on Saturday, while batting on Day 1 of the ongoing Test match between Indian Cricket Team and the visiting England Cricket team, became the holder of
a unique record, which is that of becoming the 1
st Indian batsman to hit 200 sixes at home in international cricket. The explosive opener, best known for his pull shot has often restored to hitting the ball over the rope in order to get quick runs in his account, and more often than not, his attempts have been successful. In this ongoing Test match, Virat Kohli, after winning the toss, chose to bat first, and Rohit Sharma came in to open the inning for India, and what happened next, was enough to get his name scripted into every cricket history book.

Rohit Sharma needed 2 sixes to get to this milestone when he came to bat

Rohit Sharma was tasked to get the Indian team off to a good start and show the Englishmen how capable he was on the Indian soil. And, he did not let anyone down. He smashed a total of 161 runs off 231 runs, including 2 sixes, before getting out. En route to his century, Sharma hit two sixes, in the 12
th and 38
th over of the innings and got to the milestone, getting his
name registered in the record books. While at home, Rohit has played a total of 118 games across the format and his tally of runs at the moment, rests at a total of 5,960 runs and this includes the 200 sixes that he has hit. His explosive batting is the reason that the batsman, has a batting average of 55.70, with his highest score being 264 runs. Sharma’s run in Test cricket has in the past been full of hiccups, but this inning would be a statement to many critics of his who had been questioning his inclusion in the team. The Indian team, thanks to his contribution of 161 runs, India’s total, at the time of writing, rested at a comfortable 296 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. They had lost the first match of the series, by a margin of 227 runs, and would be looking to capitalise on this start and convert it into a win for the side, as they go later into the series.
