In limited overs cricket India has been experimenting way too much with the 4th spot in batting. India has tried many options at this crucial batting position but none of them could offer stability. Yesterday in the first of the three T20s at Cuttack, Rohit Sharma promoted MS Dhoni to the fourth spot.

Dhoni kept the faith of the stand in captain and gave the team a staggering knock of 39 runs from just 22 balls. MS Dhoni was under criticism for his place in the shortest version of the game after India lost a T20 to the Kiwis.

The Indian stand by captain, Rohit Sharma in the post match presentation batted for decision to promote MS Dhoni to Number 4. He further added that even though MS Dhoni didn’t get to bat much in the ODI series but class is permanent. Rohit Sharma lauded MS Dhoni and Manish Pandey for the clinical finish to the Indian innings in the first T20.

India registered a hefty 93 runs win which is India’s biggest T20 victory so far.

Rohit also made a very valid point when he said that Dhoni has donned the role of a finisher for long enough now. Dhoni must be given the freedom to play freely and someone else should now accept the onus of finishing things in style.

Rohit also highlighted the fact that Dhoni has won it for India on so many occasions.
