Rohit Sharma made an exceptional Test debut as an opener in the just-concluded series between India and South Africa, where India defeated the guests with complete whitewash of 3-0. It took our ‘Hitman Sharma’ just four innings to prove that he can excel as a Test opener and while doing so, he broke and made many records.

Rohit Sharma gave a blockbuster performance throughout the series and scored a total of 529 runs in 4 innings. And much deservingly he was awarded as the man of the match and man of the series.

The most striking thing about Rohit Sharma’s performance was his brave batting. Not even for once, he looked nervous while smashing some big shots and that’s the reason why fans have started comparing him to the daredevil cricketer Virender Sehwag, who was also known for his fearless batting skills.

While people just can’t stop comparing the two, Rohit Sharma has finally opened up on the comparisons with Sehwag on Thursday while interacting with the media. He said:

“It is people’s perception that we bat in a similar fashion and all that. But Sehwag is Sehwag. What he has done is remarkable.”

He added:

“For me what will be important is what the team is expecting me to do, if I am able to do that I’ll be more than happy. Of course, Sehwag played in a way he loved to, and the team wanted him to play. It is the same situation for me here as well. I want to play in that fashion where the team wants me to play. And if I am able to do that, I solve a lot of problems,”

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will be serving as the captain of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming Bangladesh tour that will be kickstarting from November 3rd.
