India’s newly appointed white-ball captain Rohit Sharma and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have started their rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru after they were ruled out of the upcoming Test series in South Africa because of injury issues.
Rohit Sharma, who was recently named the new ODI captain of the Indian cricket team, replacing Virat Kohli, was expected to travel to South Africa as the vice-captain of the Test team for the upcoming 3-match series, which will kickstart on December 26, however, a hamstring injury during training ruled him out. Rohit’s expected recovery time is between three to four weeks.
Both Rohit and Jadeja were seen at the NCA with the India U-19 captain Yash Dhull on his social media posts. For the unversed, the under-19 Indian team is currently camping at the NCA ahead of the Asia Cup beginning in the UAE from December 23. The senior opener is expected to be available to lead the team for the ODI leg of the South Africa tour, which will take place in January.
Rohit Sharma was seen giving important lessons to the under-19 cricket team of India. The official Twitter handle of the BCCI also shared glimpses of Rohit’s session with the youngsters with the caption:
“Priceless lessons. #TeamIndia white-ball captain @ImRo45 made most of his rehab time as he addressed India’s U19 team during their preparatory camp at the NCA in Bengaluru.”
